"What do you want for your birthday?"

December 28. Fifty years old. One of those milestones often commemorated by some personal challenge. A marathon. An English Channel swim. A bike trip across France.

What do I want to do?

I’ve run a marathon. Don’t have time to bike across France. And I definitely don’t want to add more body fat to swim the Channel. So I got to thinking - philanthropy’s a passion - so why not ask my friends and family to help me raise $50,000 for my 50th year?
